Farah, Mbye to energise Wests Tigers

Mid-season signings Robbie Farah and Moses Mbye will spark the Wests Tigers out of their current form slump, according to winger Corey Thompson.

Transfer deadline signings Robbie Farah and Moses Mbye are just the tonic the Wests Tigers need to end their mid-season NRL slump, says winger Corey Thompson.

Farah and Mbye were on Tuesday inserted straight into the Tigers' starting line-up to take on Gold Coast on Sunday after moving from South Sydney and Canterbury, respectively, over the past fortnight.

Having lost seven of their past nine games, Thompson believes the timing of their arrival is perfect.

"After 15 games in a row, it's great to have two new boys inject that fresh energy into the group and pick us all up," Thompson told AAP.

"We've been struggling the last couple of weeks. But with Moses and Robbie here, I think they'll push the team in the right direction."

Farah returns to his beloved No.9 jumper, while Mbye goes straight to the fullback spot he has made his own since transitioning to the role for the Bulldogs earlier this year.

Tigers coach Ivan Cleary struggled to settle on both positions over the opening half of the year.

Thompson, who played alongside Mbye at the Bulldogs in 2014-15, has proven a capable fullback in his eight starts in the No.1 jumper over the past four months.

But he insists he has no issue handing the role to his former teammate.

"I love playing fullback. If I got asked before the game where you want to play, I'd obviously say fullback. But I started my career on the wing and played the majority of it there until this year," he said.

"I'm just happy I'm in the 17. I love running out there, and if it's wing or fullback, it's not going to bother me. I told Moses: 'just pass me the ball and get me some tries and I won't be complaining'."

The Tigers, who haven't progressed to the finals since 2011, are currently four points adrift of the top eight in 10th spot with nine games remaining.
