Injured Wests Tigers skipper Robbie Farah won't be a late inclusion in Friday night's NRL clash against the Sydney Roosters, according to coach Jason Taylor.
The NSW Origin star hasn't played since fracturing his hand in a loss to Penrith in round 16, but was considered a slight chance of coming back this weekend.
However Taylor revealed on Thursday the 31-year-old hooker hasn't even returned to training.
"He just hasn't done enough," he said.
"He hasn't been able to tackle. He can't do anything without a needle.
"We're at a point where we want him to be much closer to 100 per cent before he plays, and that's what we'll do."
Asked when that point will be, Taylor said: "Pretty soon. Could well be next week."
Second-rower Chris Lawrence also failed to take part in the captain's run, but is in no danger of missing the game.
The last-placed Tigers host a hot Roosters side that will be without troubled winger Shaun Kenny-Dowall, who was reportedly hospitalised on Wednesday night after undergoing a mental health assessment.
Taylor, who was a Roosters assistant coach last year, said his former club is a league leader in overcoming off-field issues and hoped to see similar fight in his own team's on-field performance.
"Those teams set those examples for the rest of us. It's just about what you do on the field," he said.
"We're talking about hanging tough and staying strong through periods in the game where it's going against us.
"And that's our challenge for us in this game, because we certainly won't have it all our own way.
"So we want to see some fight in the guys."
