Fatal ACT crash after police chase

An ACT man who was killed in a collision with two other vehicles had been speeding away from officers when the crash happened, police say.

A man who died in a three-vehicle crash in southern Canberra was speeding away after officers attempted to pull him over, police say.

Investigators from the ACT Policing Collision Investigation and Reconstruction Team will be looking into the circumstances surrounding the death in Kambah on Friday evening.

Police say officers attempted to pull over a vehicle of interest about 5.45pm but the driver sped off and a chase was terminated shortly afterwards.

When the vehicle subsequently drove through a red light, it collided with two others, killing the driver and injuring four people.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

The fatality brought the territory's road toll this year to nine.
