Fatal house fire deemed non suspicious

Forensic investigators will remain at the scene of a fatal Hobart house fire, although police say there no indications of a suspicious cause.

Police continue to investigate but say there are no suspicious circumstances linked to a fatal Hobart house fire.

A weatherboard house in South Hobart was completely destroyed by fire and an 81-year-old man was found dead inside.

Susan Noble told reporters at the scene that it was her father, Murray Noble, who died in the fire that started about 4.30am on Wednesday in McKellar St.

"From my understanding, it (the fire) might have happened in the lounge room where the wood fire was," she told News Corp.

"I think he was found heading toward the back door, trying to get out, and the smoke has overcome him."

Police acting Inspector Philippa Burk said forensic crews will remain at the scene.

"Preliminary inquiries would indicate there are no suspicious circumstances," she said.
