Fears for health of refugee boy on Nauru after injury

Australian doctors fear an 11-year-old refugee boy living in the community on Nauru could be permanently disabled if he does not receive urgent surgery on his arm.

Reports say the unnamed Iranian boy fractured his left arm on May 4.

It is not known how the injury occurred, but it's reported that his arm has been reset in a cast and the boy is still in severe pain.

Ian Rintoul is the spokesman for Refugee Action Coalition.

He's told Zara Zaher the boy's condition is yet another example of the inappropriate medical care received by those resettled on Nauru.
