Police fear that a Victorian man who has been missing for more than a month has met with foul play.

Paul Kingsbury, 27, disappeared in the early hours of July 6 and was last seen at a Moolap address, near Geelong.

Homicide cold case and missing person squad Detective Acting Inspector Boris Buick said police had information that Mr Kingsbury had come to "some harm".

They want to speak to another man, John Nelis, who they believe was in contact with him about the time he disappeared.

Det Acting Insp Buick said Mr Nelis, 31, of Moolap, was known to police and should not be approached by the public.

"Investigations have led us to believe that John, who we believe may be armed, was involved and has knowledge of what happened to Paul," he said.

"We do have a warrant for his arrest so we are appealing for him to come forward."

Mr Nelis is described as Caucasian in appearance, about 183cm tall with medium build, brown hair and blue eyes.
