Fears raised over Bali Nine island move

The Bali Nine pair awaiting execution face a frightening journey to an island where Indonesia executes prisoners, a Mercy campaigner says.

Fears are raised but hope isn't lost for the Bali Nine pair awaiting execution, a Mercy campaign co-founder says.

Myuran Sukumaran and Andrew Chan will be moved on Wednesday to the penal island where they will be executed, Bali's prosecutor says.

Brigid Delaney, co-founder of the Mercy campaign to stop the pair's execution, said news of the move was distressing.

"While they're still at the home they've had for the last 10 years - the prison in Kerobokan - there's been hope that diplomatic efforts will continue and will have an impact in their favour," she told AAP on Tuesday.

Ms Delaney said there was a sense of dread around the transfer to the penal island.

"It will be a frightening journey for Myuran and Andrew. It's highly distressing for their families and the community that they have got in prison," she said.

The island of Nusakambangan was where the Bali bombers were held before their execution.

"It is a place that the Indonesians have demarked as an execution zone," Ms Delaney said.

Despite her grave fears, Ms Delaney said hope wasn't lost for the pair.

"We're still petitioning the president. We're sending another batch. We've got more than 200,000 signatures," she said.

"We've just started an Indonesian Facebook page group which is getting a lot of support from Indonesians, so the campaign still continues. It's not over."

Ms Delaney says it should concern Indonesians and others that the men will be moved despite legal appeals against their case still being under way.
