Federal budget will contain surprise: Pyne

Christopher Pyne says Australians will have to wait to see what surprise the federal budget contains in May.

Education Minister Christopher Pyne says there'll be at least one surprise in the federal budget.

Mr Pyne confirmed the May budget would include a "major" package for families and small business, along with a number of child care initiatives to be detailed over the coming weeks.

But he also told the Nine Network on Friday he was sure the budget would have a surprise, but people would have to wait and see.
