DAY 4 OF THE FEDERAL ELECTION CAMPAIGN

WHERE THE LEADERS ARE CAMPAIGNING:

* Prime Minister Turnbull: Frankston in Melbourne's outer southern fringe. Located in the Liberal seat of Dunkley, being vacated by former small business minister Bruce Billson.

* Labor leader Bill Shorten: Rockhampton in the electorate of Capricornia. It's the government's second most marginal seat in parliament with a slim 0.8 per cent margin.

WHAT THE COALITION TALKED ABOUT:

Australia's free-trade agreements; the tax cut for small business and its plan for jobs and growth.

WHAT LABOR TALKED ABOUT:

Its plan to fully finance the Gonski schools funding plan.

Labor pledged $10.6 million to double the number of specialist prostate cancer nurses.

* Labor is in damage control as the party's national executive prepares to disendorse its candidate for the seat of Fremantle.

* PM dismisses suggestions there was any impropriety around his association with a British Virgin Islands company set up to exploit a Siberian gold prospect.

* Turnbull backs one of his MP who says he doesn't want refugees in his north Queensland electorate because there aren't enough jobs to go around.
