Federal police eye bank royal commission

As the banking royal commission rolls on, the Australian Federal Police boss says he's keeping an eye on proceedings.

Australian Federal Police commissioner Andrew Colvin says his agency will investigate any criminal referrals from the banking royal commission, but has no plans to make a submission.

Bank interactions with the anti-money laundering body Austrac have featured at the commission, but the AFP has stayed on the sidelines.

"We have no plans to make a submission, but clearly we will watch the outcomes of the royal commission and if there's any referrals of criminal allegations to the AFP then we will deal with them then," Mr Colvin told reporters in Canberra on Tuesday.
