Roger Federer has enhanced his claim to being the best male tennis player ever, winning his 20th grand slam and his sixth Australian Open on Sunday night. It was his first title defence since the 2008 US Open.

* Most prize money (A$144million) - next best: Djokovic ($110 million)
* Most major singles titles after his 30th birthday (4) - equalling Rod Laver and Ken Rosewall.
* Most major singles titles after his 35th birthday (3) - equalling Rosewall.
* Federer is the oldest man to win a major since Rosewall, aged 37 years and two days, won the 1972 Australian Open.
