Austria's Anna Fenninger opened her women's alpine skiing World Cup account for the season when claiming the giant slalom at Lienz on Saturday.
After four near misses already this campaign 24-year-old Fenninger prevailed on Lienz's Schlossberg slope ahead of Sweden's Jessica Lindell-Vikarby and American Mikaela Shiffrin.
This was the fifth World Cup win of Fenninger's career - three of those falling on December 28 - and it moved her to second in the overall World Cup standings, 12 points behind Tina Weirather, who trailed in 17th.
"I find it a bit funny and incredible that it still works," said Fenninger, referring to the habit of winning on December 28.
"It was hard this second leg, but today it was brilliant," she smiled.
Lindell-Vikarby, who edged Shiffrin by one hundredth of a second, retains the lead in the overall giant slalom standings.
