Ferrari F1 test driver Gené heads to Aust

Formula One test driver Marc Gene will head to Sydney in April for Australia's first ever Ferrari Racing Days event at Eastern Creek.

Formula One test driver Marc Gene will head to Sydney in April for Australia's inaugural Ferrari Racing Days event.

The Spaniard, who won the iconic Le Mans race in 2009, will drive in the Ferrari Formula One pit-stop and track show at Sydney Motorsport Park.

It'll be the first time Australia has hosted the international showpiece, which includes the second leg of the Ferrari Asia Pacific Challenge Series featuring more than 30 458 Challenge cars.

"Securing a test driver of the calibre of Marc Gene is a huge coup for Ferrari Racing Days Australia, and proves our commitment to delivering a world-class motorsport and entertainment event for Australian fans," Ferrari Australasia chief executive Herbert Appleroth said on Friday.

The event runs from April 11-13.
