West Coast Fever goalshooter Jhaniele Fowler has fired another shot at Super Netball defenders, declaring she plans to improve on her record-breaking performance from last week.
Fowler made a dream debut for the Fever, scoring 66 goals from 68 attempts in the team's 74-56 win over the Thunderbirds in Adelaide.
The individual haul from Fowler was a Super Netball record, surpassing the 50 goals scored by both Caitlin Bassett and Caitlin Thwaites.
And as for the record in the now-defunct Trans-Tasman Championship - that was also owned by Fowler, who poured in 66 goals for NZ outfit Southern Steel.
Fowler, who led Jamaica to a Commonwealth Games bronze medal last month, was happy with her first-up display for the Fever.
But she isn't content to rest on her laurels.
"The challenge is always to go above and beyond what you've done the week previous. So I'm either going to maintain that, or put up my best effort to go above," Fowler said.
"My expectation was to get a good start, be strong underneath the post and put up every shot that I get. So yes I'd say it met my expectation.
"I have amazing girls in front of me and they make my job a lot easier, and (makes) putting up those shots a bit effortless."
Fever managed just two wins last season, but the acquisition of Fowler has boosted hopes they can contend for the title this season.
Their progress will receive a huge test when they take on the star-studded Collingwood Magpies at Perth Arena on Saturday night.
The Magpies will be aiming to bounce back following last week's 59-58 loss to the Melbourne Vixens.
While Fowler doesn't plan on giving away her scoring percentage, she has conceded a little bit of height.
The Jamaican has recently always been listed at 198cm tall, but says she is actually 196cm.
