FIFA's Makudi wins election dispute case

The Court of Arbitration for Sport has dismissed allegations of "irregularities" and upheld Worawi Makudi's election as president of Thailand football.

FIFA board member Worawi Makudi's election as Football Association of Thailand president has been verified by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

CAS says it dismissed losing candidate Virach Chanpanich's appeal to challenge the October 2013 election result.

Makudi, a 17-year member of FIFA's executive committee and former ally of Mohamed bin Hammam, won 42-24.

CAS says "irregularities alleged by Mr Chanpanich either did not exist ... or were not supported by evidence".

The court says "a record number of 26 witnesses" were heard at a two-day appeal hearing in March.
