For the fifth consecutive day, a lay day has been called at the Fiji Pro - however organisers are confident surfing conditions will pick up on Friday.
"This morning there are some clean little lines coming around but not enough to run so we'll have another lay day," Kieren Perrow, WSL Commissioner, said on Thursday.
"It's definitely improving and we're expecting things to really ramp up over the next four to five days."
When competition commences, 11-time world champion Kelly Slater will face compatriot Kolohe Andino and Brazil's Alejo Muniz in the opening heat of round one.
Australia's Taj Burrow and Matt Banting will clash with Spaniard Aritz Aranburu in heat two.
