Fifth murder charge over Aust Day death

A fifth man has appeared in court charged over the alleged Australia Day murder of a Melbourne man.

A fifth person charged over the alleged Australia Day murder of a Melbourne man has appeared in court.

Bekim Muhtari, 29, of Hillside in Melbourne's northwest, is charged with murdering 20-year-old Michael Ali Sleiman, who died after 15 people allegedly stormed a Deer Park house on January 26 and started a fight.

Muhtari was remanded in custody after a brief hearing in the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Police charged Muhtari on Tuesday after the arrest of 13 people in raids on fortified clubhouses and properties with links to the Rebels outlaw motorcycle club.

Five of the detained men, who are Rebels members or associates, were released pending further inquiries.

Four men, two of them Rebels bikies, are already in custody charged with Mr Sleiman's murder.

All five are due to reappear in court in November.
