WORLD FINANCE UPDATE:
The Australian dollar has slumped after China cut its interest rates to curb two days of dramatic stockmarket losses.
At 0630 AEST on Wednesday, the currency was trading at 71.35 US cents, down from 71.82 cents on Tuesday.
And the Australian share market looks set to open lower after Wall Street fell for the sixth straight session, with the Dow posting another triple-digit decline after a morning rally fizzled.
At 0645 AEST on Wednesday, the share price index futures contract was down 51 points at 5,076.
