Aaron Finch put on a batting exhibition to lead Surrey to the fourth-highest ever total in English domestic T20 cricket before rain killed off their chances against Kent in Canterbury.
Surrey posted 6-250 with Finch smashing 83 from 38 balls.
However, a heavy downpour in the innings break forced the match to be abandoned, with the teams taking a point each.
Kent, with three wins from four previous matches in the competition, would have needed to score at an asking rate above 12.5 runs an over but were spared the task.
Batting first after winning the toss, Finch hit a boundary from the first delivery.
Finch and fellow opener Rory Burns both struck 50s against a Kent attack hamstrung by a soapy ball and a wet outfield, the result of constant light drizzle.
Finch bludgeoned off back foot and front at every opportunity to post a 19-ball half-century with eight fours and a brace of sixes, while Burns, standing in for the injured Jason Roy, reached the milestone from 27 balls for his maiden 50 in the short-form game.
The pair posted 87 in the six-over power-play and had 119 on the board when Burns was dismissed.
Surrey reached three figures after seven overs as Finch plundered on before he was bowled by left-arm spinner Imran Qayyum.
At Sophia Gardens, Usman Khawaja top scored with 44 for Glamorgan but it was not enough to save them from a 30-run defeat to Somerset.
Somerset made 5-190 but Glamorgan's hopes were crushed midway through the innings when the in-form Australian left-hander was dismissed with still 107 runs to get.
In other matches, Lancashire beat Yorkshire in a dramatic last-ball win at Old Trafford while Birmingham and Northamptonshire played out a tie at Edgbaston.
