Firebirds off to big stadium for GF replay

Queensland Firebirds will meet the New South Wales Swifts at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre next season after playing a sold out grand final in 2015.

Next season's rematch between 2015 trans-Tasman netball grand finalists Queensland Firebirds and NSW Swifts will return to the high-capacity Brisbane Entertainment Centre.

The fifth-round ANZ Championship clash will be the Firebirds' first hitout at the 13,000-seat venue since a sold-out crowd watched their thrilling 57-56 win over the Swifts there in June.

In a sign of the competition's continued growth, Adelaide Thunderbirds will host an extra game at the 8000-seat capacity Titanium Security Arena, while the Swifts, Melbourne Vixens and West Coast Fever will all once again play matches at large venues.

ANZ Championship administrators released the 2016 season draw on Thursday and hope crowds continue to increase on the back of the Australian Diamonds' Netball World Cup triumph in August.

Every game from the 14-round fixture will be broadcast live on pay tv, with one game live on free-to-air.

For the first time, weekly Saturday twilight games will be played across Australian venues in 2016.

The season starts on April 1 with a Friday night double header in Auckland and Brisbane.
