Firefighters briefed on Vic bushfire plan

Victorian emergency services have received a briefing from CFA ahead of the bushfire season.

Victorians should prepare for a long, hot summer and a dangerous bushfire season, emergency services have warned.

The Country Fire Authority, Metropolitan Fire Brigade and Parks Victoria on Wednesday outlined a brief contingency plan to all Victorian emergency services and local government agencies ahead of the fire season.

CFA state duty officer Scott Purdy said the meeting focused on firefighter safety and how to provide the most timely and accurate information to communities.

Mr Purdy also encouraged all Victorians - in particular those living in central and western parts of the state - to begin preparing a fire plan.

"People should have decided before a fire occurs what to do, where they're going to stay, whether to defend or leave," he said.
