With the final outcome of the Queensland election still not known, what is confirmed is that the new parliament will have its first-ever female Aboriginal MP.

Leeanne Enoch is the successful Labor candidate in the outer Brisbane electorate of Algester.

She and Billy Gordon, who's been elected to represent Labor in Cook, in far north Queensland, are the first Aboriginal MPs elected to the state parliament in almost four decades.

Leeanne Enoch spoke with Queensland correspondent Stefan Armbruster about her election victory, and her priorities.
