Manly coach Geoff Toovey has indicated he has no plans to rest Daly Cherry-Evans from Friday night's NRL match with Wests Tigers, despite the star halfback's onerous State of Origin schedule and an ongoing battle with a knee injury.
The Sea Eagles camp hinted earlier this week that Cherry-Evans could be rested in the lead-up to the NRL finals, as he battles to overcome a knee complaint that has hampered the middle third of his season.
But with the race to the finals now on in earnest after the end of the Origin period, Toovey said the Queensland playmaker will take to Brookvale Oval for the round 18 fixture.
"If Daly is fit he will be playing," Toovey said at training on Thursday.
"He is a quality player, we will rest him up during the week if possible but we want out best players on the field at all times so we will be fielding the best team on the field every week."
Winger Jorge Taufua is the Sea Eagles' other injury worry as they seek to stay atop the NRL ladder against a Tigers side that had the better of them in their round five clash at Leichhardt Oval.
Taufua missed the round 17 loss to Canterbury due to an ankle injury.
"We are hoping he will be right," Toovey said.
"It is a minor ankle injury, we will give him up until the last moment to play, he is an important part of our team."
Rookie Clinton Gutherson will come in for Taufua is he is ruled out.
Toovey also revealed Manly would be on the lookout for Tigers young gun Mitchell Moses, who impressed in his NRL debut at fullback in last week's loss to Penrith and lines up again at the back against Manly.
Moses' play bears a resemblance to a young Brett Stewart.
"He is another Tigers rising star," Toovey said.
"I look forward to seeing more of him in the future, hopefully he won't go too good on Friday night but I think he is a player of the future for them."
