Flanker Hall makes Chiefs' Super squad

A mounting loose forward injury toll prompts the Chiefs to promote flanker Berny Hall into their squad.

The Chiefs have called flanker Berny Hall into their Super Rugby squad to alleviate growing loose forward injury problems.

Hall replaces fellow openside Sean Polwart, who has been struggling with concussion symptoms.

Polwart made one appearance, in round two, and other loose forwards have also had injury woes.

No.8 Liam Squire (concussion) was unavailable for six games this year, while flanker Tevita Koloamatangi (ankle) and utility forward Johan Bardoul (knee) have suffered season-ending injuries.

Captain Liam Messam missed Saturday's 36-9 loss to the Highlanders with a shoulder injury and fellow All Blacks loose forward Sam Cane is still to take his second mandatory rest break, having started the last 10 games.

The Chiefs are fifth overall with two games remaining in the regular season, against the Reds in Brisbane on Saturday and the Hurricanes in New Plymouth a week later.
