Flinders Mines appoints new MD

Ramelius Resources CEO Ian Gordon will take to top job at Flinders Mines in mid-2014.

Prospective iron ore miner Flinders Mines has appointed the head of gold miner Ramelius Resources as its new managing director.

Ian Gordon will join Flinders Mines in the second half of June, once his current role as Ramelius chief executive comes to an end. He's been Ramelius CEO since 2009.

He has more than 25 years of experience in the resources sector, Flinders Mines said.

The company has plans for an iron ore mine in Western Australia's Pilbara region, which it intends to make a development decision on by the end of 2015.
