Two-time Olympic medallist Jessica Fox has recorded one of the most dominant wins of her career in the women's C1 at the ICF World Cup in Markkleeberg.
The 23-year-old finished almost five seconds clear of her nearest rival, Spain's Nuria Vilarrubla, with Australia's Ros Lawrence third.
Fox won K1 bronze in Rio after taking silver in the same event four years earlier. She finished in 101.46 on Saturday, ahead of Vilarrubla in 106.40, and Lawrence in 111.46 to claim her second World Cup golf in as many weeks.
"It was aggressive from start to finish, and I got those stopper moves going like I had visualised in my head, so it's such a nice feeling when a run comes together like that," Fox said.
"I saw Nuria's time, and I knew it was going to be a good time to beat, this is going to be a challenge. I just tried to focus on my run."
The French-born Fox also hit out at organisers after they removed two gates for the women's C1 run, to make for smoother finals and fit in with television coverage.
"It's like we are going back 40 years to when they tried to do this for the K1 women," she said.
"Two weeks ago we got accepted into the Olympic program, and now we can't do the full course because they don't think we are capable of it.
"I know that all the girls in that final are capable of doing that course. Maybe we have to do a few more spins, but give it time.
"We're a new category, everyone else has been here since 1949, and we've been here since 2010. The girls are improving, I hope this is not going to be a trend for future World Cups. I'd like to see the girls do the same course as the boys."
