Fognini beats del Potro in Los Cabos final

Italian Fabio Fognini was too good for Argentine top seed Juan Martin del Potro in the final of the Los Cabos Open.

Fabio Fognini has defeated Juan Martin del Potro in straight sets to claim the ATP Tour 250 event in Los Cabos, Mexico.

The second-seeded Italian dominated the top seed 6-2 6-4 to win his eighth tour title.

Fognini, ranked 15th in the world, claimed hard-court event for his third victory of the year, with the other two on clay in Bastad and Sao Paolo.

The 31-year-old lost the first three games against Argentine world No.4 del Potro before he stormed his way to four breaks of serve to win 12 of the last 15 games.

Del Potro, the 2009 US champion has 22 career victories, winning this year on hard courts at Indian Wells and Acapulco.
