Foley anointed as NSW Labor leader

Fomer union boss Luke Foley, who joined the ALP when he was just 17, has replaced John Robertson as leader of the NSW Labor Party.

MEET LUKE FOLEY: NSW LABOR'S NEW LEADER

- 44-years-old

- Devout Catholic

- Married with three children - Aoife, Niamh and Patrick

- Leader of the opposition in the upper house and shadow environment and planning minister

- Joined Labor Party at 17

- Worked as a telemarketer for the Guide Dog Association of NSW

- Union organiser from 1996 to 2000

- Australian Services Union NSW secretary from 2000 to 2003

- NSW Labor assistant general secretary from 2003 to 2010

- Replaced corrupt former Labor minister Ian Macdonald in the upper house of parliament after his resignation in 2010

- A self-described rugby league and cricket tragic

- Member of the Summer Hill Seniors Cricket Club

- Has a Bachelor of Arts
