Chelsea is out to ensure their trip to Australia leaves a lasting legacy, and today they achieved that for a group of players from Special Olympics Australia, and Football United.
Coaches from Chelsea FC Foundation put them through their paces at the session in Daceyville, Sydney.
David Monk, a senior development officer at the Foundation, said the benefits were wide.
"It's not just about the team playing a match in front of 80,000 people, it's actually about the community benefit from this visit," he said.
The Premier League Trophy and League Cup were displayed proudly, with everyone eager to pose with the treasured pieces of silverware.
Special Olympics Australia Chief Executive Nicola Stokes said the training sessions weren’t only beneficial for the players’ skills.
"We believe in the power of sport to change lives, and it's very important not only the skills, and the self-esteem that our kids get from the attention from an EPL team, and indeed the champions, but also for the community to get together and focus on the abilities of people with intellectual disabilities, and of course to have some fun."
She said the photos with the Premier League trophy would provide wonderful memories that would inspire the players for years to come.
