Manly five-eighth Kieran Foran will run out against the Wests Tigers on Friday night despite battling the flu.

Foran trained on Tuesday morning but was given the afternoon off to help his recovery from illness.

However, the club has given assurances the star playmaker will be right to turn out in their NRL clash against the Tigers at Brookvale.

Foran was due to speak at a press conference on Tuesday afternoon but Jorge Taufua stepped in instead.

Coach Toovey told reporters that Foran would be right and it was only a minor ailment.

Foran will be key to the last-placed Sea Eagles' chances against the resurgent Tigers, who made a big statement in their 34-6 win over South Sydney last round.

Foran's halves partner Daly Cherry-Evans will play for Queensland in State of Origin II on Wednesday night and faces a tough ask to back up 48 hours later.

"Fozza will be right to go on Friday," Taufua said.

"He just had early leave today. It's a rest day tomorrow and he'll be ready."

All the momentum heading into Friday's match is with the Tigers after a win spearheaded by Martin Taupau.

Prior to last weekend's bye, the Sea Eagles were hammered 44-10 by the Broncos.

Feleti Mateo said it was up to him and his forward teammates to match the Tigers' aggression, particularly early on.

"They played very well (against South Sydney), they played with a lot of energy and their forwards are really powerful," he said.

"We've got our hands full with these guys but I'm quite confident we can go out there and get the win."

"Guys like Keith Galloway and Taupau, obviously, they're really leading them well.

"It's up to our forwards to match it and go one better."
