The US government has repeatedly defended the force feeding of Guantanamo Bay detainees on hunger strike.
But as the religious holiday of Ramadan begins the facility remains open and many prisoners continue to be force fed.
Following the leak of standard operating procedures for the "Medical Management of Detainees on Hunger Strike" the rapper Yasiin Bey, better known as Mos Def, has just undergone the procedure on-camera.
The video created by human rights group Reprieve shows Mr Bey struggling as a tube is forced down his throat. But after a few minutes he tells staff to stop the procedure.
"The first part of it is not that bad," he said. "But then you get this burning." "It starts to be really unbearable, it feels like something is going in to my brain."
"I really couldn't take it." It's estimated that more than 40 prisoners are currently being force fed at Guantanamo Bay.
The Feed's Andy Park takes a closer look at this controversial practice.
Please note, the video contains distressing images that may disturb some viewers.
