Ford is laying off 700 workers at a US assembly plant because of slow sales of the small cars and hybrids it makes.
The plant, in the Detroit suburb of Wayne, will move from three shifts to two starting on June 22.
Ford said 675 assembly line workers and 25 salaried workers are affected.
Some workers will immediately transfer to other plants to cover summer holidays.
Ford expects most will find jobs at other Michigan Ford plants by the northern spring.
This is the first plant shift Ford has cut since 2009.
Low petrol prices have hurt sales of the Ford Focus and C-Max hybrid, which are made at the plant.
Focus sales fell 6 per cent last year, while C-Max sales dropped 22 per cent.
