Foreign ownership register approved

The treasurers have approved a new foreign ownership of land register but the Northern Territory won't take part.

A new national register of foreign ownership of land titles won't include the Northern Territory.

State and territory treasurers met with their federal counterpart Scott Morrison in Sydney on Friday where they agreed on a new register to bring greater accountability to foreign investment.

The NT declined to take part in the register.
