Forensic tests after Vic baby death

The community of Hamilton is in shock after the death of an 11-month-old boy in country Victoria sparked a homicide investigation.

Neighbours heard a woman squealing on the morning an 11-month-old boy died in country Victoria.

The homicide squad is investigating the death after paramedics were called to treat a seriously ill boy at a Hamilton home at about 3am on Monday.

The baby was taken to the Hamilton Base Hospital but died there about an hour later.

The death has not yet been deemed suspicious but investigators are still waiting on more forensic testing before deciding the cause.

Police have questioned several people while awaiting the results of an autopsy.

Neighbours say they are shocked by the incident.

"I just heard a lady's voice squealing, you know. I didn't know what would happen," one woman told the Nine network.
