Former AAP Editor Lyall Rowe dead at 93

Veteran Olympic reporter and former AAP editor Lyall Rowe MBE has died at the age of 93.

Lyall Rowe, a veteran Olympic reporter and former editor of Australian Associated Press, has died a month shy of his 94th birthday.

Rowe joined AAP in 1949, worked in the news agency's London bureau in the early 1950s, becoming news editor in 1957, and then editor in 1975.

He organised and ran the coverage of a total of 16 Olympic and Commonwealth games for AAP, recieving an MBE for services to journalism in 1980 before retiring in 1982.
