Former AC/DC drummer denies booze breach

Former AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd has denied breaching a court-ordered ban on drinking or possessing alcohol during a home detention sentence.

Former AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd has denied breaching an alcohol ban that was part of his home detention sentence.

The 61-year-old rocker appeared briefly in Tauranga District Court on Monday, the latest of a string of court appearances.

He was arrested last month and charged with violating the alcohol restrictions placed on him when he was convicted for drug possession and threatening to kill one of his employees.

For that he was sentenced to eight months' home detention, which he is appealing.

Rudd, who has been released on bail, will defend the charge at a judge-alone trial on November 24.

As part of his sentence he is electronically monitored at his Tauranga waterside mansion and must also complete a rehabilitation program.

Judge Thomas Ingram warned Rudd at his sentencing he would be jailed if he was found with any traces of drugs or alcohol in his system.
