Former All Black Mils Muliaina has been arrested in the United Kingdom in relation to an alleged sexual assault in Cardiff last month.

Muliaina, 34, was pictured being led away by police from Kingsholm Stadium in Gloucester where he was playing for his Irish club team Connacht.

Inspector Andy Walbeoff of South Wales police says a man in his 30s was arrested at Kingsholm Stadium on April 3 (UK time) on suspicion of sexual assault in relation to an incident in Cardiff in March, Radio New Zealand reports.

"The gentleman is currently en route from Gloucester to South Wales where the incident will be investigated."

Insp Walbeoff said the arrest was on suspicion only and no charges had been laid.

Muliaina will leave Connacht for Italian side Zebre at the end of this season.

With 100 caps between 2003 and 2011, Muliaina stands fifth on the All Blacks appearances list.

The centurion All Black has been plagued with injury all season but coach Pat Lam had opted to start him at full-back for the fixture at Kingsholm.
