Former Labor minister Mike Kelly will try to win back the seat he lost at the 2013 federal election.
Dr Kelly has won party endorsement to contest the NSW regional seat of Eden-Monaro, long regarded by both sides of politics as a bellwether for winning government.
"We know only too well what it is we are fighting against, exacerbated by the ideological extremism and indifference of the sitting member," he said on Facebook following his pre-selection.
