Former Lib party boss now advising CBA

Former Liberal party boss Brian Loughnane has been advising the Commonwealth Bank, a parliamentary committee has heard.

Commonwealth Bank chief executive Ian Narev has confirmed former Liberal party boss Brian Loughnane has been providing advice to the bank.

Mr Narev denied Mr Loughnane was an employee of the bank when he fronted the House of Representatives economics committee on Tuesday.

He insisted Mr Loughnane, who stepped down as federal director of the Liberal party in January, "helped us generally in thinking through how we respond to a number of issues".
