Former Ipswich mayor Paul Pisasale has been hit with fresh charges by Queensland's corruption watchdog.

The Crime and Corruption Commission on Thursday served Pisasale, 65, with a notice to appear on two counts of attempting to pervert justice via his legal representative.

He will face Brisbane Magistrates Court on August 8.

Pisasale was also charged with extortion and assault charges in June, a fortnight after he resigned as Ipswich mayor citing poor health.

He had been one of Queensland's longest serving, and most popular mayors, having been re-elected to a fourth term with more than 83 per cent of the vote in 2016.
