A former British solider, diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's disease, is raising funds to research the condition that has blighted his family for generations.
Chris Graham, 39, carries a faulty gene which affects just a few hundred families worldwide.
The disease claimed the life of his father at the age of 42, and his 43-year-old brother's condition has severely detriorated to a point where he is bedridden in a care home.
But Mr Graham told BBC that he is determined to remain positive.
“In a way it was a bit of relief, if that’s strange to say,” he said.
“I can get sad and upset about that or I can think it is a bonus. I’ll now plan things so I know what I can do.”
Chris is preparing for a year-long bike ride across USA and Canada to raise awareness and money for Alzheimer's Research UK.
It is hoped the money raised will boost the search for new Alzheimer's treatments.
