Manly know Brookvale Oval needs to be a fortress again if they're to be a force under new coach Trent Barrett, starting with Thursday's round seven clash against Parramatta.
Brookvale has traditionally been one of the toughest away trips in the NRL but that hasn't been the case over the past two seasons.
Manly were 6-6 at their suburban home last year on their way to missing the finals for the first time in 11 years.
This season they're 1-2 at home, their sole win over Cronulla who have won just five times at Brookvale in 38 attempts.
Winger Jorge Taufua knows Manly need to lift their game, starting with the Eels.
"We are very conscious of that," he said at the Sea Eagles' Narrabeen training base on Monday.
"We know no team likes to come to the fortress and it all starts with our defence. I think in our three wins this year, that is where we have done so well.
"If we can continue that, a lot of teams will start to fear us again."
Darcy Lussick was with Manly when they won the 2011 grand final and has returned to the northern beaches this season after three years at Parramatta.
"In the past, Brookie has been pretty hard to win at as an away team and it hasn't been that way this year," he said.
"We are conscious of it and we are trying to fix that up."
Manly back-rower Tom Symonds added: "Winning at home is definitely a priority for us.
"The senior guys in our teams have definitely made mention of that and that fortress mentality that has been built over a number of years.
