Four-game ban for Italian soccer brawl

The Italian soccer league has banned Fiorentina's Borja Valero for four games for pushing an opponent and a referee in their game against Parma.

Fiorentina midfielder Borja Valero has been suspended for four games after his dismissal for pushing an opponent and the referee during Monday's Italian soccer league game with Parma, the Lega Serie A said on Tuesday.

The Spaniard was red-carded in injury time after a brawl with Parma's Gianni Munari, who was also dismissed. Munari received a one-game ban.

Valero repeatedly pushed Munari and grabbed the referee by the shoulder when he showed the red card.

Heavy fines were handed to Roma and Juventus after their respective weekend games against Bologna and Torino.

The Rome club were fined 50,000 euros ($A76,600) over the unruly behaviour of their fans, who damaged an entrance at Bologna's Dall'Ara stadium and hurled objects at police.

Giallorossi fans also threw flares and fireworks onto the pitch and into the sector occupied by Bologna fans.

Juve were fined 25,000 euros ($A38,300) over two banners displayed during the city derby with Torino. Fans had mocked the plane crash in 1949 which killed 18 Torino players as the club flew back from a match in Lisbon.
