Four held in London anti-terror swoop

Counter-terrorism police have conducted a series of raids in London and arrested four young men suspected of planning and instigating terrorist acts.

Four suspected Islamist terrorists have been arrested in a series of raids across London, in which a 21-year-old man was tasered.

Counter-terrorism police arrested the men, aged between 20 and 21, and at one address were helped by armed officers but no shots were fired, Scotland Yard said on Tuesday.

A 21-year-old suspect was tasered during his arrest but was not injured and did not require medical treatment, the force added.

All men were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism and have been taken to police stations in central London and remain in custody.

A number of residential addresses and vehicles are being searched by specialist officers in west and central London as part of the investigation.

A Scotland Yard statement said: "These arrests and searches are part of an ongoing investigation into Islamist-related terrorism."
