Four-hour Geelong siege ends peacefully

Critical incident police have restrained a man and led him out of a Geelong home after a four-hour siege ended peacefully.

A siege in Geelong has ended peacefully after four hours with heavily armed police restraining a man and leading him out of a Whittington house.

The Critical Incident Response Team attended the home on Monday after receiving reports just before 6am that a man was threatening self-harm.

Around 9.45am a police officer and police dog approached the house and shortly afterwards the man was led to a police van with his hands restrained behind his back.

The man yelled at paramedics briefly before he was driven away.

Around six police vehicles and a dozen officers attended the incident.

Challenger Close, which had been blocked off, was reopened around 10am.
