Four NSW prison guards attack inmate

Four corrections officers at Sydney's Silverwater prison have been charged over an attack on an inmate in April.

Four prison guards have been charged over the bashing of an inmate at Sydney's Silverwater jail.

Police allege the men aged 28, 49, 50 and 58 attacked the 46-year-old on April 27. He then needed to be treated in hospital for bruising and swelling.

The officers have been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm following a police investigation.

They will face Burwood Local Court on July 7.
