Small surf has forced a fourth-consecutive lay day to be called at the Fiji Pro.

Competition is yet to start at the fifth event of the world championship tour, which started on June 7.

Strong swell is expected by Friday.

"Small surf on offer this morning so we've called a lay day for competition," Kieren Perrow, WSL Commissioner, said.

"We anticipate conditions to improve over the coming days and will return tomorrow morning to reassess."

When competition commences, 11-time world champion Kelly Slater will face compatriot Kolohe Andino and Brazil's Alejo Muniz in the opening heat of round one.

Australia's Taj Burrow and Matt Banting will clash with Spaniard Aritz Aranburu in heat two.
