Fox caps big weekend with silver medal

Jessica Fox's dominant C1 slalom season shows no sign of stopping after the Australian won a silver medal to add to the gold she won one day earlier.

Jessica Fox has backed up her gold-medal performance in the women's C1 event at the ICF World Cup event in Italy by taking silver in the K1.

Germany's Ricarda Funk took gold and has now won the event at three successive World Cup meets.

Fox's Australian teammate Kate Eckhardt finished seventh, the best result of her career to date.

"This year I haven't been in any semi-finals, even at the U23 Worlds, so to make a final today was totally beyond my belief really," she said.

"I think I find that when it's on bigger, trickier whitewater it works out for me.

"I was feeling really good on the water the last couple of days, but through the week I had a few days of being in bed apart from training because I was feeling a bit sick. So to come back from that and have my best performance ever, I'm really happy."
