A Fox News host has apologised for an unfortunate gaffe, referring to President Donald Trump as a 'dictator' live on air.

Abby Huntsman made the comment while speaking on live to short-lived former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci.

The comment came as vision played of Trump arriving in Singapore for his summit with the North Korean leader.

“This is history, we are living history,” Ms Huntsman said.

“Regardless of what happens in that meeting between the two dictators, what we are seeing right now, this is history.”

She apologised for the comment later in the show.

“I do want to point out that earlier, as you know sometimes on live TV, sometimes you don’t always say things perfectly. I called both President Trump and Kim Jong-un a dictator. I did not mean that, my mistake. I apologise for that, she said.”
Huntsman’s slip of the tongue went unnoticed by Mr Scarramucci, but not by those on Twitter.
Ms Huntsman is the daughter of US ambassador to Russia and former Republican presidential hopeful Jon Huntsman.

Fox & Friends airs on Fox News, a conservative 24-hour news channel created by Australian Rupert Murdoch.

President Trump is a close follower of the show, and regularly tweets about it.
