France dismantles dark web marketplace

French officials have dismantled a dark web marketplace known as the Black Hand, arresting several people and accessing its server.

France has dismantled one of the biggest illegal online marketplaces on the dark web, French officials have announced.

For more than two years, the Black Hand forum offered illegal items and services for sale, including drugs, weapons, falsified documents and stolen bank data, the French budget ministry said in a statement on Saturday.

The main site administrators and several other people were arrested in operations in several cities, and investigators have accessed the forum's server in order to secure the extensive data stored on it.

The ministry called Black Hand one of the most important illegal platforms active in France. Initial investigations showed that more than 3000 people in the country had accounts on the website.
